Deception as a tactic has been used for millennia in all forms of opponent opponent scenarios in the physical world. In cyber, deception is one of the most common attack weapons by adversaries, deceiving users into clicking on Spear Phishing emails from where the attacker gains a point of presence and moves laterally. Given the emphasis Gartner and MiTRE are now placing on “Active Defense” measures to counteract/ detect and prevent attacker lateral movement within customer networks, the demand for cyberdeception platforms is increasing exponentially and becoming a core component of any defence in depth cybersecurity strategy. The presentation will guide participants through the recent literature and research, and explain how cyberdeception provides high fidelity alerts of adversary activity, prevents ransomware from promulgation, defends Active Directory, and allows customers to respond immediately using solutions already invested in.
